Set Up Your Arlo camera Base Station
The base station connects you to your home network and lets you view your camera videos from anywhere.
Steps for installing your Arlo base station:
- Using an Ethernet cable, connect the Arlo base station to your home router
- Provide power to the base station connecting the AC adapter to the base station and plugging the AC adapter into a power outlet.
- Locate and press the On-Off button found on the back of the Arlo base station.
- After this, power LED as well as the Internet LED will light green within next two minutes indicating that the base station is set up finally.
Register for an Arlo Account
Arlo account should be registered after setting up the Arlo base station as the Arlo account is linked to your Arlo system and provides you access to viewing of videos from any computer or mobile device connected to an internet service. the Arlo app can also be downloaded on your mobile devices for the best viewing experience.
Follow the steps below to register for an Arlo account:
- Open the preferred and supporting web browser on your device and type arlo.com/login as the web address in the address bar.
- Click on New System Setup and fill all the incomplete information in the required fields and click on Continue.
- Select the serial number of your Arlo base station and the time zone from the displayed list in the drop-down menu and click on Continue.
- Choose the convenient service plan following which your account is registered.
Set Up and Sync Your Arlo Cameras
Follow the steps below to set up your cameras:
- Press and hold the latch of your camera to unlock the battery compartment of your camera and open it by pulling back.
- Place the two batteries near the back of the camera and two batteries near the compartment hinge by aligning them properly and then close the battery door.
- Thereafter, your cameras are ready to be synced.
Steps to sync Arlo Wire-Free cameras:
- You must first place the Arlo camera within 100cm range around the base station
- Press the Sync button, located on the side of the base station, for about two seconds and then release it.
Note: Pressing the Arlo Wire-Free Sync button for a long time may cause the LED under the USB symbol to blink amber for 10 minutes which means that the sync process is blocked. - Wait for few seconds till the sync status LED blinks green light.
- Moving ahead, Press the Sync button, located on top of the camera, for about two seconds and then release it.
- A blue LED on the camera will blink rapidly confirming the sync process. But in case you see LED on the camera blinking amber, that means the sync is not successful and you will have to repeat the syncing process.
- Once you see the camera LED on the base station turns solid green that means the sync process has been completed.
- You will have to repeat the same steps for each of your Arlo cameras.
Note: If your sync process has not been completed within 60 seconds, you must press the Sync button on the base station and then try again.
Arlo Netgear login
Arlo account must be registered to control and configure the Arlo cameras from anywhere. You must set up an account with a username and strong password. Arlo camera setup requires a base station with a permanent internet connection.
Follow the steps below to login to the Arlo cameras:
- Open a supporting web browser on your device and type web addresses https://arlo.netgear.com or https://arlo.com in the address bar and then Press enter.
- Next, click on the New System Setup option and follow the prompts information and click on Continue.
- Select the serial number of your Arlo base station and the time zone from the displayed list in the drop-down menu and click on Continue.
- Your Arlo camera account has now set up allowing you to configure and control the Arlo cameras from the same account.
Arlo camera reset
Performing a factory reset on your Arlo camera returns your base station settings back to its default settings also removing the serial number of your Arlo camera from your Arlo account.
For performing a factory reset on your base station, follow the steps below:
- Trace the Reset button that is located on the back of the base station and press it using a pen or a straightened paperclip for about 7- 10 seconds. Release it after 10 seconds.
- On completion of the reset of the base station, the base station LEDs located on the front will flash amber light. The base station reboots and is reset to its default settings as soon as the LEDs stop flashing amber light. This process also removes the Arlo base station from the Arlo account.
- Log into your Arlo account following the reset through Arlo App or through a Web browser after the power and Internet LEDs light solid green
Troubleshooting steps if an Arlo base station appears offline: The internet LED on the front of the base station lets you know that your base station is online or offline. If it lights solid green it indicates that the base station is connected to the Internet but if lights amber that means the base station is not connected to the Internet. You must follow the below-mentioned troubleshooting steps in following order only:
- First you should ensure that you have established secure connection between your Base station and your router using an Ethernet cable. Also, make sure that the Ethernet cable you have used is not damaged and is the same that came along with your system.
- Make sure that the power adapter has been connected properly to the back of your base station and into a power outlet.
- Try connecting to the Internet from another device which is connected to your router directly.
- Perform a power cycle of your Arlo base station by unplugging the power adapter from the power outlet and then reconnecting it after a minute and your Arlo base station will start within a minute. The Power LED and Internet LED light will light solid green indicating that your base station is connected to the Internet. But if the Internet LED lights amber, you will have to follow with next troubleshooting steps.
- Check and make sure you have enabled DHCP and that DCHP client of your router is able to supply an IP address to the base station
- If you are not being able to connect to the internet now and had been able to connect previously, you must then check the security settings as well as firmware of the router to ensure that you have not made any changes previously.
- Perform a factory reset on your base station :

What to do in case an Arlo camera in not able to sync with the base station?
Your Arlo camera may sometimes fail to sync with your Arlobase station when you are trying to set up or add a new Arlo camera to your system. An Arlo camera cannot be detected by your system until and unless it has been successfully synced. You can follow the troubleshooting to solve this issue.
Make sure that you have placed the Arlo camera close to the Arlo base station as it is recommended to not to keep the camera at more than three feet away from the base station while you are performing the sync process.
Placing the camera too far from the base station interferes with the sync process when you press and release the Sync button. Therefore, it is recommended to press the Sync buttons in the right order and for the right time duration:
- Press the Sync button located on the side of the base station for minimum two seconds if you are using an Arlo base station. Release it later for about two seconds.
Note: Pressing the Arlo Wire-Free Sync button for a long time may cause the LED under the USB symbol to blink amber for 10 minutes which means that the sync process is blocked. - If the camera LED on the base station turns solid green that means the sync process is completed.
Check the status of the battery as low batteries (indicated by the orange battery icon) can interfere with the syncing process of your camera to the base station
To check your Arlo camera's battery status:
- Access your Arlo account either through an Arlo app on your mobile phone or through my.arlo.com.
- Go to the menu icon and click on it and then by Clicking on the Device Settings, you will see that your battery status is displayed on the Device Settings page
Check base station status as it is recommended to add the base station to your Arlo system before syncing your Arlo cameras to it. Check that the status of your base station is not deactivated because otherwise your Arlo cameras cannot sync to it.
To check your base station status:
- Access your Arlo account either through an Arlo app on your mobile phone or through my.arlo.com.
- Go to Settings and then click on My Devices, followed by selecting your appropriate base station which displays the device settings of your base station.
